Without specifying a date, Tunisian President Kais Saied announced that the government would be formed as soon as possible.

While touring the Habib Bourguiba Avenue on Saturday, Saied expressed his respect for the constitution but noted that amendments can be made to its text, referring to the approved constitution in 2014.

The Secretary-General of the Tunisian Labor Union, Noureddine Taboubi, called for early parliamentary elections to discuss changing the political system.

The Tunisian Ennahda movement condemned the attempts to amend the constitution, which to them represents the country's political guarantee.

Ennahda stressed the danger of what it calls "unilateral ruling" and stressed the importance of comprehensive national dialogue.

Several media outlets have reported in recent days on an impending announcement of the new government formation, following which the constitution would be revised and fresh parliamentary elections held.

Days ago, the Tunisian President reiterated that measures he took fell within the framework of the constitution, reassuring that the democratic process will continue according to the will of the people.
