"Ennahda" Movement supporters protesting in Tunisia

The "Ennahda" Movement executive bureau announced, on Tuesday, that President Kais Saied's orders constitute a coup against the constitution and state institutions.

The bureau called on the President to reverse the measures and try to tackle the situation constitutionally. They also urged him to resume the work of the Parliament in its capacity as a legitimate, democratically elected authority.

"Ennahda's" executive bureau highlighted the importance of making more consultations among the political and civil organizations regarding the latest developments, while warning against the "incitement of violence."

"We reiterate our call to the military and security devices to distance themselves from political altercations, and we call on the Tunisian people to show more solidarity, cohesion, and unity, as well as thwarting all calls for discord and civil war," "Ennahda" added.

Al Mayadeen correspondent in Tunisia reported that the Tunisian President Kais Saied had chaired an emergency meeting at Carthage Palace, after which he decided to "assume executive authority," following the return of protests across the country.

Our correspondent also reported that President Saied dismissed PM Hichem Mechichi and said that his actions "are in line with the constitution."
