In a poll conducted on Friday by Moldovan data analysis company Date Inteligente (iData), the results found that more than 50% of Moldovans believe their government is leading the country in the wrong direction.

Participants were asked to evaluate the government's course of national development. 55.6 percent of respondents criticized it, 35.6 percent supported it, 7.5 percent were undecided, and 1.3 percent preferred not to respond.

1,060 respondents took part in the poll, and the margin of error was 2.9%.

Moldova's government has been accused of failing to cope with the economic crisis, as inflation surpassed the historic 34% year-on-year in October. The government has also been criticized for its unwillingness to negotiate better gas prices with Russia and for putting political pressure on opponents.

Consequently, mass anti-government protests erupted in Moldova over the past few months.

Numerous polls have shown that a total of 60 percent of the population in the country doubts the ability of the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity to stay in power for another three years. In addition, roughly 70 percent of Moldovans appeared to be disappointed with the authorities' policies and almost 65 percent seemed to be supporting a change of government.

Over 50,000 people take part in anti-government protests in Moldova

On November 6, Moldova's opposition Sor Party organized mass demonstrations in the country's capital of Chisinau, with over 50,000 participants trying to get to the city's center to call for snap parliamentary elections, Sor member Dinu Turcanu said.

The police attempted to prevent protesters from getting to Chisinau's center, according to the organizers, cordoning off the city's central square.

Demonstrators held Moldovan flags, funeral wreaths, and white chrysanthemums, which they gave to the police blocking Chisinau's central square.
