Al-Houthi: The initiative presented in Marib was due to a sense of ending the aggression,

Mohammed al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen, has stated that the peace initiative was presented for the people, and not a result of dialogue with Saudi Arabia, which he describes as occasionally impotent and unrealistic.

Al-Houthi described that the presented peace initiatives were due to the urgent need to stop the aggression, lift the siege, and think about the interests of the Yemeni people. He added that this came hand in hand with knowing how detrimental the war is for Saudi Arabia.

Yemen’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi had earlier confirmed that the liberation of Marib would enhance the chances of lasting peace between Yemen and its neighbors.

In a series of tweets, al-Ezzi expressed that the liberation of Marib means it would not remain a springboard for al-Qaeda's threats in the future.

In an interview with Al Mayadeen in November, Muhammad al-Bakhiti said that "our hands will continue to extend for peace, with clear requirements, foremost if the end of aggression and siege, along with the withdrawal of the occupation forces."
