Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said in a phone call on Saturday with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar that the Vienna Talks are proceeding in the right direction. “We have the necessary will to reach a good agreement in good faith, and if the Western side also has this goodwill and determination, we can reach a good agreement,” he said.

Iran's chief negotiator at the Vienna Talks Ali Bagheri Kani said yesterday that the countdown to reach a final agreement in the Vienna negotiations has begun, adding that the talks are advancing and moving forward.

Bagheri Kani gave this statement to reporters on Saturday after meeting with representatives from the P4+1 group of countries, and before leaving Coburg hotel.

He added that Iran and the five remaining signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal are working to resolve outstanding issues, while diplomatic efforts in Vienna continue to ensure the lifting of all sanctions.

Amir-Abdollahian: We announce our cooperation with India to transfer humanitarian aid

Amir-Abdollahian also highlighted the situation in Afghanistan, stressing the need to form an inclusive government in the country.

He also referred to India's humanitarian aid to the crisis-stricken country, announcing measures and cooperation from the Islamic Republic of Iran to transfer the aid, which consists of wheat, medicine, and COVID-19 vaccines.

89% of Iranians have been vaccinated

Answering the Indian FM’s question on the fight against the Coronavirus in Iran, Amir-Abdollahian pointed out his country’s advances in achieving comprehensive immunization and positively assessed Iran’s efforts, saying, “We have been able to properly contain the virus, and so far 89% of people have been vaccinated and are receiving a third dose of the vaccine.”

Jaishankar said India’s COVID-19 cases are on the rise, but the tide of this increase can be stemmed from India’s current pace of vaccination. The Foreign Minister also expressed his joy regarding the Iranian Foreign Minister's upcoming visit, calling it an extremely good opportunity to develop bilateral cooperation.
