Azeri President Ilham Aliyev said Wednesday that the current US administration takes a completely biased position toward Armenia.

Speaking to local channels, Aliyev also noted that during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, France, supposedly a neutral mediator, was unequivocally biased toward Armenia.

After the war, the US, also a supposed mediator, was unilaterally on Armenia's side, noted Aliyev.

Azerbaijan's President considered not inviting Azerbaijan to the so-called US Summit for Democracy and not inviting the Secretary of the Azerbaijani Security Council to Washington as discrimination.

Aliyev stressed that his country has not lost anything by not being invited to the Summit, adding that "it is not worth it for a two-minute speech."

"The fact is that the balance is upset here, demonstrating that the current US administration is unilaterally on the side of Armenia, and this is their own business. We, as they say, simply express our opinion, and, of course, we will take this into account in our policy," affirmed the President.

Aliyev said the EU was neutral, explaining that at the last meeting in Brussels, a complete parity was observed, which gives reason to say that they can play a positive role in the normalization of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

It is noteworthy that on Thursday, Armenia and Azerbaijan reported clashes that resulted in the killing of one Azeri soldier and two Armenian soldiers. The incident occurred in the Kalbajar area on the border.

Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry claimed that the cause of the soldier's death is "provocation" by Armenian soldiers and that "all responsibility for tension lies with the military-political leadership of Armenia."
