On the 41st anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila Massacre committed by Israeli-backed right-wing Lebanese militias, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said crimes in history are "dwarfed" by this massacre implemented by Israelis and their mercenaries.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Kanaani wrote, "Today, September 16, marks the anniversary of the brutal massacre of innocent and defenseless Palestinian women, children and men at Sabra and Shatila camps by Zionists and their mercenaries."

He pointed out that "the savage massacre at Sabra and Shatila camps is just one example of the acts committed by the organized terror machine of the criminal Israeli regime against Palestinian citizens, including innocent children, women and men."

The Iranian spokesperson indicated that "these crimes have been continuing for decades with Europe and US support for Zionist occupiers."

"The Sabra and Shatila massacre will always remain as a shameful blot on the face of supporters of the Zionist regime and false advocates of human rights, especially the US and UK," Kanaani concluded.

In coordination with Israeli occupation forces, right-wing Lebanese militias stormed during September 16 and 18, 1982, the Sabra and Shatila camps located southwest of Lebanon’s capital city Beirut, indistinctly massacring at least 3,000 Palestinian refugees and Lebanese civilians in a brutal indiscriminate manner without sparing even women and children.
