Deir Ezzor's countryside witnesses protests against the attacks committed by SDF members in the area

The town of Abu Hamam, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, witnessed demonstrations in the center of the town against SDF practices in their area. In previous weeks, the people residing in the area had their houses bombed and their cars stolen by SDF members under the false pretext that their owners belong to ISIS.

The demonstrators raised banners calling for "the accountability of the SDF members who committed the violations of the rights of the people." Furthermore, protesters called for an end to the campaigns targeting civilians and their homes.

In parallel, the town of Al-Jardhi broke out in demonstrations to demand the release of Doctor Hamza Qassem Al-Marrou’, after he was arrested while his house was being raided by SDF members.

The villagers issued a statement confirming that "the arrested doctor is a civilian, and he was arrested in an arbitrary and inappropriate manner, based on malicious and incorrect information." The families' statement called for the "immediate release of the doctor because the accusation against him, claiming that he is an ISIS member, was not true."

The villages and towns of Deir Ezzor's countryside, which are under the control of the SDF, are witnessing daily demonstrations against the raids carried out by the SDF which are accusing civilians of belonging to ISIS, as well as to protest the deteriorating living situation in their areas.

Demonstrations first erupted in June in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor and later spread to the eastern countryside, given the corruption of local councils and the lack of bread and fuel. The protests also demanded the dismissal of all non-Syrian and non-Syrian cadres from the region. These protests later turned into a general strike for teachers in all SDF areas across Deir Ezzor.
