Iran tested 2nd generation of the Bavar373 Air Defense System; launched the Sayyad 4B line

The commander of the Iranian Army Air Defense Force Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard said on Tuesday that the ‘Bavar-373’ missile system has increased Iran's air defense capabilities, adding that the Iranian-made defense system has the capacity to counter fifth-generation military aircraft.

On Sunday, Iran unveiled an upgraded version of the Bavar-373 surface-to-air missile system with an extended engagement range of 300 kilometers, called Sayyad 4B.

Brig. Gen. Sabahifard said on Sunday that Bavar-373 features anti-stealth capability that can counter fifth-generation fighter jets with low-observable Radar Cross Section (RCS).

The commander added that the extension of the range to over 300 km has been an important milestone for Iranian engineers, adding that Tehran is still working to upgrade the system further.

"Today, all are aware that our equipment is at the cutting edge of the modern world’s technology," the official stated.

The upgraded version of #Bavar373 :

During the unveiling ceremony, Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani said that the Bavar-373 defense system has the capacity of countering ballistic missiles.

According to him, the missile can target stationary aerial targets, ballistic missiles, and all sorts of fighter and bomber planes.

Brig. Gen. Ashtiani added that it is his Ministry's responsibility to ensure the armed forces are equipped with the most up-to-date weapons for the country to be sheltered from external threats, stressing that this particular innovation can take down 6 different targets, and several other countries have shown interest in purchasing the system.

The combat capabilities of Iran's armed forces have significantly increased thanks to this innovation, he said.

According to a report on tests conducted with the Bavar-373 system, the radar of the defense system was able to detect a stationary target within a range of more than 450 kilometers.

At about 405 km, the target was tracked down by the missile system, then shot down at a range of more than 300 km.

Comparing the newer version to an older one, the report stated that the detection radar increased from 350 to 450 km and the engagement range increased from 260 to 400 km.

The report added that the missile range increased from 200 to 300km, and its engagement altitude increased from 27 to 32 km.

The report likewise announced the launch of the Sayad B4 missile’s production line.

Iran first unveiled the mobile missile defense system in August 2019.

It is specifically designed to intercept and destroy incoming hostile targets, employing missiles with a maximum range of 300 kilometers, and can detect up to 300 targets, tracking 60 targets at once and engaging with six targets at a time.

Military officials say the Bavar 373 is one of the country's most important milestones in recent decades, following the victory of the Islamic Revolution, and that Iran's military power has reached unprecedented levels despite the unjust and brutal sanctions imposed on the country.

Iran's Armed Forces’ deterrence power prevents the US and "Israel" from carrying out a full-scale invasion of the country.

The doctrine of Iran's military holds that armed capabilities are solely used for defense purposes.

In recent years, military experts and technicians have made substantial progress in terms of producing a broad range of domestically-manufactured equipment.

Iran has therefore successfully achieved full self-sufficiency in supplying its air forces with combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and it is still working to improve its capabilities, including its missile and drone power.

Considering that these are only meant for defense purposes, Iran’s defense capabilities will never be subject to negotiation.
