Iranian media reported on Monday that four clerics were injured in an attack by unidentified assailants in the city of Qom.

The Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that two of the clerics had minor and superficial injuries, while the two others were transferred to the hospital.

While Tasnim said the clerics were attacked by sharp tools, the Hawza News Agency indicated they were injured from gunfire.

Earlier, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps confirmed that four of its members were killed in southeastern Iran in an attack by terrorist elements in the region.

In a statement, the IRGC Ground Force’s Southeast Quds Base said four officers were martyred in an area bordering Pakistan in Saravan county in the Sistan and Balouchestan province.

The statement indicated that the terrorist elements managed to escape to Pakistan after the IRGC forces launched an operation to pursue them.

In the same context, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry tracked down and arrested members of a Mossad spy network who were planning to sabotage the country's defense industry through security marketing.

The Mossad's espionage network's plot was to gather information from Iranian knowledge-based companies that cooperate with the country's defense industries.
