The US imposes new sanctions related to the Iranian drone program

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the new US sanctions imposed on Iran's military drone program contradict Washington's claims that it is seeking to return to the nuclear agreement.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh announced that "the completely contradictory behavior of the White House" is apparent through its proclamations of intentions to return to the nuclear agreement while proceeding to impose further sanctions.

The US Treasury said today that the Biden administration has imposed new sanctions on the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' drone program, accusing it of "threatening regional stability."

Stano: the October 27 meeting in Brussels was “useful”

Earlier today, EU Spokesperson Peter Stano said that "there are attempts between Iran and other signatories of the JCPOA to fix a concrete date as early as possible to reconvene in Vienna."

Stano also added, in the regular briefing, that the October 27 meeting in Brussels was "useful" and “helped to define a way forward to resume negotiations in Vienna”.

Bagheri: it is expected that Russia and China support Iran's

On Friday as well, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, said that Tehran strives to achieve tangible results for the Iranian people in the new Vienna talks to lift the unjust sanctions, stressing that Russia and China also support negotiations that can yield tangible results.

According to Kani, Russia and China are expected to support Iran's stances in talks with the P4+1.
