Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh

Speaking in the Foreign Ministry's press briefing, the Ministry's Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh answered a number of questions on a number of different subjects.

On the matter of the Vienna Talks, Khatibzadeh said that both Iran and the European Union are in agreement that prolonging the pause in the talks is in no one's interest. "A decision has not yet been made on where this meeting will take place and at what level, but it is on the agenda," he added.

Regarding uranium enrichment being moved to Natanz, Khatibzadeh said the centrifuge transfer was done with IAEA notification. "According to the Agency's charter, we are allowed to take any action based on our peaceful needs, with the notification and under the supervision of the Agency," he said.

Answering a question regarding the upcoming visit of Turkey's President, the Spokesperson said the date has not yet been set "there should be some preparations for Erdogan's trip, and meetings must be arranged to determine the date of the trip."

Khatibzadeh also qualified the 5th round of talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia as "positive", but rejected the possibility of a meeting between the foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia.

"The talks were serious. We can expect to see serious progress quickly in the various areas if the talks have some progress at the political level," Khatibzadeh said.

Regarding Iran's arrest of a former Afghan official in Tehran who was recruiting fighters for Ukraine, Khatibzadeh says Iran has not and will not allow its lands to be used against another country, saying it is Iran's position that issues behind the war can be resolved through diplomacy. He also pointed out the wars NATO is waging, considering them linked to the roots of the war in Ukraine and stressing that Tehran cannot accept unilateral sanctions against any country.

The Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson also discussed developments in Palestine, saying that Palestine comes first in the Islamic World's public opinion and that the developments there are the main concern of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and all the free countries that stand against racism.
