Vienna talks delegations

Advisor to the Iranian negotiating team in Vienna, Seyed Mohammad Marandi, stated on Tuesday that Iranian negotiators have repeatedly ignored the other parties' hollow threats and deadlines in order to make key concessions in the long-term interests of the Iranian nation.

Marandi affirmed that the negotiating officials cannot make any statements regarding the final draft until it has been thoroughly studied in Tehran, noting that "media reports are nothing more than speculation."

In a tweet on Monday, he said, “The EU's proposed ideas alongside other contributions to resolve remaining issues were discussed. Iran will continue constructive engagement by studying today's amended proposals."

It is worth noting that the Iranian negotiating team will leave Vienna for Tehran tonight.

Marandi, told Al Mayadeen, on Saturday, that there has been "overall progress" in the ongoing Vienna talks between Iran and the US. However, he noted that this does not mean that an agreement has been reached and that "caution is required."

Mainly, Marandi said there are certain issues that need to be resolved between the two countries otherwise "we cannot have an agreement."

Tehran aimed at reviving the nuclear agreement signed in 2015 between Iran and the major international powers, in addition to Germany.

The US unilaterally withdrew from the agreement in May 2018 and reimposed the maximum pressure strategy against Iran, through economic sanctions, and Tehran responded by abandoning some of the restrictions on its nuclear activity as were initially stipulated in the agreement.
