Iran’s chief negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani met with EU lead Negotiator Enrique Mora.

The EU's Deputy Secretary-General Enrique Mora said Wednesday that indirect talks in Doha between Iran and the United States over reviving the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with major powers have ended.

"Unfortunately, not yet the progress the EU team as coordinator had hoped for. We will keep working with even greater urgency to bring back on track a key deal for non-proliferation and regional stability," Mora tweeted.

Nournews reported that Iran’s chief negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani met with EU Lead Negotiator Enrique Mora in Doha.

The news agency stressed that the remaining issues were tackled on the first day of the talks between Kani and Mora, followed by a technical and serious approach.

The talks in Doha came after several rounds of talks in Vienna since April last year to resurrect the JCPOA, which was unilaterally abandoned by former US President Donald Trump in May 2018.

The atmosphere of the negotiations, according to the news agency, has been pursued with a focus on the "specialized dimensions" of each of the discussed aspects.

It is worth noting that Tehran has previously stated that no direct talks will take place with the US, and Enrique Mora will relay messages to both parties.

Earlier today, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that "the talks in Doha were planned for two days from the beginning, and during yesterday's and today's consultations the parties exchanged their proposals and views on the remaining issues."

He added that "the two-day Doha talks are being held in a professional and serious environment."
