As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrives for the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in the state of New York, he has been advised to don corporate attire, but Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene took no time to wait and instead took a jab.

She posted on X to call out Zelensky's outfit at the UN General Assembly saying, "The least he could do is put on a suit and tie while he demands our money," adding, "Zelensky is not the Governor of the 51st state, but he does have Joe Biden in his pocket. His sweatpants pocket."

She still asserted her stance on denying continued assistance to Ukraine, regardless of a suit and tie attire or sweatpants. "But I will still vote NO," she said.

Putting America first?

According to the German research organization, the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, the Biden administration and the US Congress have supplied over $75 billion in aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict back in 2022.

This isn't Taylor Greene's first vocal opinion regarding the US-Ukraine matter.

Back in February this year, when US President Joe Biden visited Zelensky in Ukraine, she called Biden's trip "incredibly humiliating" and one that displayed "America's" policy.

She further expressed her views in a tweet that saw the President "choose Ukraine over America."

Other Republicans saw Biden give importance to Ukraine's defense rather than domestic issues that the US is grappling with, like immigration.

It wasn't just his trip, but Republicans are now increasingly voting against continued aid packages to Ukraine.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy stated back in March this year that Ukraine will not receive a "blank check" for aid if the Republicans win the majority of seats in the lower house of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.
