Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman and Former Prime Minister Imran Khan announced on Sunday that his party’s “battle for real freedom” march towards Islamabad will take place on May 25, local media reported.

At a press conference in Peshawar, Khan said that “Today we held our core committee meeting and made [important] decisions."

“The biggest [question] was when to begin the long march, and we have decided," he noted.

The former prime minister considered that “There was a foreign conspiracy against Pakistan from the US. In this regime change, they used locals the most corrupt people, who were ready to become part of any conspiracy to save their corruption."

“This conspiracy was hatched eight months ago and I was alerted about it in June, and after August, I fully understood what was happening. We did our best that somehow this conspiracy could be voided but unfortunately we couldn’t stop it,” he indicated.

Khan said that he wants “people from all [walks of life] to come because this is Jihad, and not politics. I’ve decided and told all my team that we have to be ready to sacrifice our lives.”

He explained that the march would become a sit-in until his demands are accepted.

“We will never under any situation accept them. No matter how long we have to remain in Islamabad, we will remain there,” he stressed.

A few days ago, a mass demonstration by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party took place in Karachi against the government of Shahbaz Sharif.

The demonstrators considered that the US had imposed the new government, calling for new elections and the return of Khan to power.

It is noteworthy that on April 11, the Pakistani parliament announced the election of Shahbaz Sharif as the new prime minister succeeding Khan, who resigned after a strong pressure campaign that led to the withdrawal of confidence from his government.
