Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al-Halbousi

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi called Wednesday on the Iraqi parliament to pass the necessary laws to prevent the formation of factors that disrupt the stability of the region.

Raisi's statement came during a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al-Halbousi.

The Iranian President affirmed that Iran has a serious will for the comprehensive development of relations, adding that nothing can disrupt the deep and friendly relations between the Islamic Republic and Iraq.

He also expressed his satisfaction with the interaction between the Iranian and Iraqi parliaments and called on developing cooperation in this field.

Raisi considered that the unity of the various ethnic groups in Iraq is the key to the country's success, warning that "creating divisions between or within religions and ethnicities will lead to the enemy's infiltration and sacrificing the interests of countries."

For his part, Al-Halbousi highlighted the need to expand the Tehran-Baghdad cooperation, noting that "The members of my delegation are representatives of different ethnicities, religions and groups, and their presence means expressing the interest of all Iraqis in strengthening friendship with Iran."

Al-Halbousi: Iran's stability has positive effect on countries of the region

In the same context, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf pointed out that Iran and Iraq play a crucial role in the regional, political, security, economic, and stability issues of Islamic countries.

During a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Mohammad Al-Halbousi, in Tehran, Ghalibaf explained that "The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the current parliament and the 13th government [under President Raisi] is to develop relations with countries, especially with neighboring and regional countries."

"Iran seeks economic, political, cultural ties and especially cooperation in the field of environment," he noted.

Al-Halbousi said Iran's stability has a positive effect on Iraq and the countries of the region.

The Iraqi Parliament Speaker stressed that the "Respect for the sovereignty of countries, good neighborliness and protection of citizens' rights should be the principles of relations between countries, and we should try to improve and develop relations between the countries of the region."

He also underlined that "We must not allow nations to be sanctioned and intimidated. We must not allow armed groups to take action against countries."
