Iranian President receives Venezuelan Foreign Minister in Tehran today (IRANIAN PRESIDENCY)

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed that Latin American countries, especially Venezuela, are part of Iran's economic diplomacy priorities.

During his meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia, the Iranian President said that his country's policy is to further advance meaningful relations with the developing countries, especially those that seek to maintain their independence against hegemonic nations.

Raisi emphasized the need for developing Tehran-Caracas relations in numerous spheres, saying that a clear and long-term plan should be devised to promote bilateral ties so that relations could progress to their maximum.

A 20-year agreement will be worked upon

This morning, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein AmirAbdollahian received his Venezuelan counterpart, announcing that Iran and Venezuela will work in the next couple of months to lay the foundations for a 20-year cooperation treaty.

He added that "All of this confirms that relations between the two countries are on the rise." Amirabdollahian expressed full support for the people of Venezuela, saying that US policies on Venezuela are "unconstructive" during the joint press conference.

In turn, the Venezuelan minister thanked Iran for its commitment to condemning the US' violation of Venezuela's interests. He noted that Iran is a strategic friend of the Venezuelan people, and can hold the joint committee between the two countries before the end of the year.

Plasencia also stressed that his country wants to strengthen comprehensive relations with Iran in the future.
