The Israeli newspaper Haaretz described the "Eli" operation as being a tragic reminder of the grave danger that Israelis who choose to settle in occupied territory are subjected to.

"The government's efforts will not change the difficult and dangerous reality, in which there is daily friction between the army forces and the Israelis and the Palestinians aspiring for liberation," Haaretz wrote.

"The magnitude of the threat is not only exemplified in the scale of the attacks that were carried out but also in the large number of attacks that were thwarted," considering that this reality "is indicative of a continuous state of war."

"It would be delusional to think that a large-scale military operation, similar to Operation Defensive Shield, could bring about calm and prevent any threats," the newspaper article reads.

"Enraged Palestinians under occupation and driven by revenge will find nothing but violence to express these feelings."

On Tuesday, four Israeli settlers were killed and another 4 were injured after a shooting operation near the "Eli" settlement in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli Channel 13 quoted the occupation emergency services as saying that "the Operation was very harsh, and the injuries were caused by a large number of bullets," which killed and injured several illegal Israeli settlers.

The Israeli media outlet also pointed out that the operation was carried out despite the heightened alert and preparedness of Israeli security apparatuses, after their blatant failure in Jenin on June 19.

The channel further quoted the occupation's Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who visited the site of the operation, as saying, "The settlers have turned into ducks on the shooting range," as he added that "it is time to carry out a military operation in the West Bank."

The operation, Israeli media reported, exhibits a planned pattern of action and coordination, pointing out that the operation was carried out by two Palestinians simultaneously.

"It was carried out easily and with firearms, and the West Bank is full of these weapons."

The Israeli newspaper Maariv noted that the peculiar location of the operation indicates that the fighters had insightful intel on IOF security logistics.

The "Eli" operation, Maariv added, indicates the shortcomings of the military establishment to prevent such attacks from happening, which has serious implications for the settler's "sense of security" within the occupied West Bank.
