According to Reuters, former US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated during a CNN interview on Sunday that she believes certain rallies in the United States calling for a ceasefire in Gaza are tied to Russia, warning the FBI should investigate them.

Pelosi provided no evidence for her claims during her interview and alleged that protesters calling for a ceasefire is "Mr. Putin's message, Mr. Putin's message."

Make no mistake, this is directly connected to what he (Russian President Vladimir Putin) would like to see," Pelosi speculated.

"Some financing should be investigated and I want to ask the FBI to investigate that."

The Russian embassy in Washington did not comment, as this is the first such comment to come from a US lawmaker. Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesperson for the Council on American-Islamic Relations called it "unconscionable" that Pelosi could make such "unsubstantiated smears targeting those who seek an end to the slaughter of civilians in Gaza," detailing that her comments paint a clear image of "decades of dehumanization of the Palestinian people."

Democratic U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told NBC News on Sunday that many protesting the end of the war on Gaza is attributable to the fact that "young people are appalled at the violence and the indiscriminate loss of life."

The protesters voiced their frustration with the US administration's backing of the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people, condemning the occupation and apartheid in the West Bank and across Palestinian territories.

The protesters aimed to increase pressure on the Biden administration to make it clear that Americans do not support the use of their funds for war crimes.

Earlier this month, a Gallup poll conducted from December 1-20, 2023, revealed a lack of clear consensus among the American public regarding the US' involvement in the war on Gaza.

Biden's administration has failed to acknowledge the genocidal nature of multiple Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip, over a 114-day-long stretch, and has surfaced with asking the Israeli occupation to do better when and kill fewer civilians. US representatives in the United National Security Council have also shot down multiple resolutions calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, using Washington's veto power. The US has also mobilized its Navy and military capabilities to strike Yemen after the nation launched a military campaign in support of the Palestinian people.
