Israeli airstrike martyrs Syrian Arab Army soldiers in airfields attack.

Deputy Chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria, Major-General Oleg Yegorov, stated that the death toll of the Israeli attack against the Syrian airfields on Monday rose to six Syrian Arab Army personnel while three others were injured.

According to TASS, the official noted that "Israel" launched a missile assault against Syrian airfield defense infrastructure in Damascus.

The attack, Yegorov noted, happened "Between 2:00 am and 2:06 am on January 2, four Israeli F-16 fighters attacked defense facilities" at two airfields near Damascus.

He further noted that the attack was launched from "the Golan Heights without invading the Syrian airspace."

Syria: UN security council must condemn Israeli aggression on Monday

Syrian Foreign Ministry stated on Monday that the Israeli occupation aggression on Damascus International Airport was part of the series of Israeli crimes against the Syrian nation.

Two Syrian soldiers were martyred and two others were wounded on Monday, as a result of Israeli air aggression on Damascus International Airport and its surrounding, which also rendered the airport out of service.

"Israeli aggression tonight on Damascus International Airport is nothing but another series of Israeli crimes and a direct blow to Syria and its people, who staunchly defend the independence and integrity of their territories and oppose interference in their internal affairs," the foreign ministry statement said.

Syria calls on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to condemn the Israeli crimes against the country and take prompt steps to offer guarantees and bring the attackers to justice, the statement added.

It is worth noting that following the attack, the Damascus International Airport went out of service for a few hours before the Syrian Department of Transportation announced that Damascus International Airport would resume flights as of 9:00 am.
