Al Mayadeen's sources reported today that explosions were heard at the 'International Coalition' base in Syria's Al-Tanf. The base holds both American and British forces and the "Army of Free Syria" militias on the Syrian-Jordanian-Iraqi border triangle.

The sources added that the sounds were a result of a drone attack that targeted headquarters inside the base, noting that there were casualties among the US-backed "Army of Free Syria" militia.

Sources say they expected that the attack was carried out by the popular resistance factions located close to the contact lines deep in the southeastern desert.

This is the first attack against the 'International Coalition' base in al-Tanf this year and was preceded by an attack on the Coalition base in the "Koniko" gas plant, northeast of Deir ez-Zor, in early 2023.

At the time, the US Central Command had announced that two missiles had fallen on a base housing US forces in eastern Syria.

According to a statement posted on Twitter by the US command, the two missiles targeted coalition forces at the Koniko mission support site in eastern Syria, with no injuries or damage to the base or coalition property.

The US army and other foreign forces, participating in the international coalition, occupy no less than 28 declared military sites in Syria, distributed over three governorates: Al Hasakah (17 sites), Deir Ezzor (9 sites) and Homs (2 sites).

US occupation forces established in Syria continuously loot Syria's riches and oil resources, while at the same time blockading the country and disallowing the population from access to medicine imports.
