Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous considers that strengthening the economic ties between Damascus and Tehran is vital to face the Western sanctions against the countries and overcome the current challenges.

Syrian state news agency SANA reported that the PM gave this comment upon meeting with the director of the Syrian-Iranian People's Friendship Association, Iranian cleric Hassan Akhtari, in Damascus on Thursday.

In addition to the economy, they also discussed several fields in which the two nations could cooperate to elevate the ties, emphasizing that boosting current relations will strengthen each country's economy, which would enable them to face the unilateral unjust sanctions.

Arnous stated that Syria hails cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and welcomes Iranian investors willing to do business in Syria.

Syria has witnessed in the recent period an increased number of Iranian investors establishing businesses and creating firms to operate in the Syrian economy, most notably what is referred to as the "reconstruction" of the country following the destruction caused by the international war waged on it.

Iranian companies entering the Syrian market operate in various areas, including construction, and movie and TV production.

The Syrian people have for years been the target of an imperialist-led onslaught that heavily weakened the government's capacities to rebuild the nation, which has made it difficult for public works to attend to reparations and emergencies.

Syria has recently been experiencing a number of severe issues, ranging from frequent attacks from "Israel", looting sprees of oil by US forces, recurring aggressions from Turkey, as well as terrorist attacks from DAESH.

Yet, despite facing all these pressures, Syria stands strong and defends the country against any such aggressions.
