American Jews were the target of Former President Donald Trump's rant on the Truth Social platform on Sunday, writing: "No President has done more for 'Israel' than I have. Somewhat surprisingly, however, our wonderful Evangelicals are far more appreciative of this than the people of the Jewish faith, especially those living in the U.S.," adding that they need to “get their act together” and appreciate "Israel" before it is "too late".

"Those living in 'Israel', though, are a different story — Highest approval rating in the World, could easily be P.M.!" he continued.

This is not the first time that Trump has issued similar comments in the past about Jews in the US, a majority of whom typically vote Democrat rather than Republican.

In an interview last year, Trump said: "The Jewish people in the United States either don’t like 'Israel' or don’t care about 'Israel'," adding: "There’s people in this country that are Jewish no longer love 'Israel'."

After winning strong support from white evangelical voters in both 2016 and 2020 according to the Pew Research Center, Trump said: “I’ll tell you, the evangelical Christians love 'Israel' more than the Jews in this country". He further explained himself to Ami Magazine, an Orthodox Jewish news publication, last year, saying that "Jewish people who live in the United States don’t love 'Israel' enough", believing it is “strange” that he does not have stronger Jewish support.

Trump drew criticism as President for referring to "Israel" as "your country" in addressing American Jews at a Hanukkah event at the White House in 2018. His ties to "Israel" went astray back in December, as in an interview for the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, Trump waged a full-on verbal attack on former ally and friend Israeli ex-PM Benjamin Netanyahu, describing him as disloyal for congratulating Biden immediately despite the Republican President still contesting results at the time.

“Early, okay? Let's use this. He was very early [in congratulating Biden]. Like earlier than most. I haven’t spoken to him since. F*** him.”

That was followed by a warning from a senior evangelical leader who threatened Trump to end his dispute with ex-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stressing that “it could jeopardize support among American Christians,” according to The Washington Post. In recent years, Netanyahu has played a key role in shifting "Israel's" diplomatic focus in the United States from relying on the support of the US Jewish community — which is largely liberal and critical of "Israel" — to seeking evangelical support, according to Israeli media.
