DPRK has accused the United States of repeatedly violating its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) with a military spy plane. The deputy head of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yo Jong, stated that the US plane entered DPRK's EEZ eight times in a single day.

The intrusions reportedly occurred off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula, specifically near Thongchon in Kangwon Province and Uljin in North Gyeongsang Province. Kim Yo Jong stated that the DPRK would not respond directly to US reconnaissance activities outside its EEZ, but warned of "decisive action" if the US military crosses its maritime military demarcation line.

She also issued a separate warning, stating that US forces would face a "very critical flight" if they continued to illegally intrude into DPRK's airspace.

The deputy head of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea reiterated the possibility of shooting down American reconnaissance planes. She emphasized that the issue was between the Korean People's Army and the US forces, cautioning South Korea to refrain from involvement.

This development follows DPRK's earlier threat to shoot down US reconnaissance planes if they violated its airspace. The DPRK's Ministry of National Defense had warned of potential incidents and stated that US Air Force strategic reconnaissance aircraft had violated the country's airspace multiple times, particularly in the East Sea.

It is worth noting that Washington has been deploying reconnaissance planes and drones that violate the DPRK's airspace, while Pyongyang exercises restraint by not targeting the aircraft.
