The Head of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen Mahdi al-Mashat affirmed on Wednesday the rejection of all inhumane measures taken against the Yemeni people.

Commenting on a meeting between Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Joyce Msuya, and Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the United Nations Office, Tareq Talahma, al-Mashat touched on the obstacles imposed by the aggression coalition to thwart the efforts to extend the truce.

Al-Mashat pointed out that the coalition's efforts aim to "deprive the Yemeni people of obtaining their salaries," noting that this "is one of the most basic human rights guaranteed by all the laws of the world."

"Any proposal stipulating the confiscation of the rights of some of the Yemeni people cannot be accepted," he confirmed, pointing out that "whoever rejects the rights of the Yemeni people is the one who rejects the truce."

"The Yemeni people are the first affected by the continued US-Saudi aggression and the unjust siege," al-Mashat added, reiterating Sanaa's position on just peace.

It is noteworthy that the armistice in Yemen expired on October 2, and the Head of the Yemeni negotiating delegation, Muhammad Abdul Salam confirmed that "news talking about its extension is not true."

For his part, al-Mashat stressed at the time, that "the payment of salaries to all public sector employees is essential for the continuation of the armistice" and warned that Yemen would not agree to an extension in the event that such demand is not met.

He went on to say that "if Yemenis accept the armistice in its current form, that will mean accepting the continuation of aggression and blockade on our dear Yemeni people."

Also, the Sanaa negotiating delegation held the Saudi-led coalition of aggression "responsible for the negotiations reaching a dead end due to their intransigence."
