Financial investigations into Inter Milan

Inter Milan acknowledged Tuesday that Italian prosecutors were looking into the club's recent player sales, the country's latest investigation into football transfer dealings.

The Serie A team had handed over records connected to player sales in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, with prosecutors in Milan looking to "verify the regular accounting of the related capital gains," the Italian champions said in a statement.

Inter had stated that no one at the club is being investigated, no formal charges have been filed, and the investigations underway are preliminary.

Since the country's football federation (FIGC) initiated its own inquiry into a number of dubious deals in October, transfers in Italian football have been scrutinized.

The FIGC is investigating a large number of transfers involving Juventus, who are also being probed by prosecutors in Turin for allegedly making misleading statements to investors and producing invoices for transactions that never happened.

This investigation focuses on a total of 282 million euros ($319.2 million) in capital gains declared in Juve's accounts over the last three seasons on a variety of moves.
