This morning, residents of Ghobeiry in Beirut's Southern Suburb woke up to Israeli airstrikes that left the area in utter ruin. The mayor of Ghobeiry, Maan Al-Khalil, told Al Mayadeen that as of 7 a.m., the Israeli strike on Ghobeiry marked the 11th one in less than 48 hours. Once a bustling residential and commercial hub, the densely-populated Ghobeiry is now almost totally destroyed, including its main street, local markets, and schools. Al-Khalil described the Israeli aggression as a "genocidal war," displacing residents and targeting civilian infrastructure. Despite the destruction and devastation, Al-Khalil emphasized resilience, vowing to rebuild the area and restore life to the Southern Suburb of Beirut.
