Dieter Reinisch on Europe's weakness, role in Africa, armed conflict

In an interview with Al Mayadeen, historian and journalist Dieter Reinisch warns of the global consequences stemming from the European Union’s growing economic and geopolitical weakness. Reinisch argues that as Europe loses global trade partners and faces internal recession, the risk of increased armed conflicts and wars is rising. He highlights the EU’s growing dependence on raw materials from Africa, particularly the Sahel and sub-Saharan regions, noting that European and French troops have meanwhile been expelled from their former colonies following progressive military coups.
